John Forster was our President for 2015. John was born in Kent in 1948. He graduated with honours from The City University, London, in Mechanical Engineering and gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Engineering & Design at the University of the Southbank, London. John spent 27 years in government service in the design and project management of major government buildings in the UK and overseas, finishing as Regional Director for London responsible for the management of all government buildings in the capital. In 1994 he moved into the private sector becoming managing director for a major facilities management consultancy. Following his retirement he occasionally provides consultancy and training in both in the UK and America. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers for whom he regularly acts as an interviewer and serves on its Membership and Registration Panel.
John married Anne in 1973 and they have two children and four grandchildren. They lived in Royal Tunbridge Wells between 1973 and 1979 and moved back here in 1996 after periods of living in Germany and South London. Since returning to the town he has been Chairman of the Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society on two occasions and a member of the Tunbridge Wells Town Forum. He is currently involved in an initiative to build water features in this Spa Town.
John and Anne are members of the Royal Academy of Art and the Tate Gallery. They travel extensively and regularly enjoy walking, films and the theatre.
